Moon Walk

Ever had something gnaw at you for a long time, like insinuations and innuendo that we faked the moon landing? I was in the bushes of South Vietnam on that famous day so I didn't hear much about it when it occurred. I was proud and certainly didn't question it at the time.

But, after I returned from the war, I remember one of my friends telling me that his neighbor didn't believe that the moon landing was authentic. To that my friend responded, "But it was on television, you could see it with your own eyes." To this is neighbor countered, "I've seen a jackass talk on television." Tough point. That was in the seventies.

Then in the eighties, a movie was made that implied that the moon landing was all a hoax. I didn't buy into that one either.

In the nineties, REM had a song titled "Man On The Moon." It was mainly about Andy Kaufman, but the innuendo was there; together with the title of the album "Automatic For The People" it implied that in the United States can create a hoax and Americans will just automatically accept it. So now let's examine this more closely and see if it's really possible.

Ever stop to think that all returning space craft splashed into the ocean because we didn't perfect landing on solid ground until the space shuttle Columbia. How did they land on the moon if they couldn't land on solid ground?

How about those powerful telescopes that technology has given us? Why is it that there's never been a news special on a moon landing anniversary or something that zooms in on our Flag that's supposed to be proudly displayed up there? Or at least pictures relayed back to earth from the "lost in space" Mars voyager as it went past the moon?

Could it be that we've all been taken in by a gigantic hoax? Could it be that my friend's skeptical neighbor was right?

Naw.
